DEPARTMENTAL INVESTMENT STRATEGY


In July the Government published the outcome of the 2000 Spending Review. The Review sets out ambitious new plans for investment for 2001-02 to 2003-04. Departmental Investment Strategies (DISs) set out departments’ plans to deliver the scale and quality of the capital stock needed to underpin these plans and the Government’s proposed improvements in public services.

Each Strategy sets out the strategic context the department is working in, an analysis of the condition and use of its existing asset base, future investment plans and the systems the department will be adopting to deliver value for money.

The capital allocations made in July were informed by draft Departmental Investment Strategies. At the same time, the Government committed to publishing these documents together with a summary white paper that sets out an overall analysis of investment and pulls together the key themes emerging from departments own DISs. This summary white paper and links to each departmental DIS are set out below.
