                   TREASURY COMMUNICATIONS TEAM   


Peter Curwen, currently Deputy Head of the Treasury
Communications team, will take over as Head of Communications
from Jill Rutter with effect from 1 August. 



Notes to Editors

Peter Curwen was appointed Deputy Head of the Communications
team in March 1996.  He joined the Government Economic Service
in 1985 and worked for the (former) Manpower Services
Commission before joining the Treasury in 1987.  He has worked
in the Treasury's economic forecasting and European policy
teams, among other posts.  Peter graduated from Manchester
University in 1985 and, with a Master's degree in economics,
from Warwick University in 1990.
