Spending Review 2000

The Pre-Budget Report is now an established and integral part of the Government's annual Budget process. It provides a progress report on what the Government has acheived so far and the next stage of policy reforms on which the Government will be consulting in the run up to the next Budget.

The key objective of the Pre-Budget Report is to launch a national debate on important economic issues, including taxation and spending, seeking the views of people and business in all regions of the country and all sectors of the economy to inform the Government's Budget decisions.

The publication of this year's Pre-Budget Report and a range of associated documents, will be followed by a series of regional meetings to discuss the issues raised and to listen to people's views.
