Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council Walsall PEALS Project

PEALS (Piloting electronic access to local government): Based on Local Committees set up to deliver services in parts of the borough, this project seeks to extend the range of agencies and services delivered in this way through the use of shared IT facilities, improving both management information systems and quality of life in the borough.

Department for Education and Employment One Stop Shop on Equal Opportunities Issues for Business

A new telephone centre will give businesses immediate, practical advice about common management questions linked with any aspect of equality. (Information is currently provided by seven different government bodies). It will offer easy access to the wider system of specialist advice on equality matters, where necessary. The project will identify and promote good practice; evaluate innovative approaches with business benefits in mind; and use the results to foster a more coherent information service at local level.

Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council

Improving care and treatment of people in their own homes Partnership in Action Barnsley

This project will establish a common source of shared information, via an 'Information Gateway', for more effective, user focussed and cost efficient services across five programme areas: Mental Health; Learning Disability; Children's Services; Physical Disability; and Elderly Services. The 'Gateway' will: bring together information from the Council's Social Services Department and the National Health Service; enable single personal records to be created from information provided by all agencies; provide a common information source for planning and delivery of services; and improve accessibility to information from a wider information 'community' including services such as housing and education.
